The software distributor Carahsoft Technology Corporation turned in a fantastic close to the 2015 fiscal year -- securing millions in the last day alone with a variety of agencies including the FBI, the prison system, and the Agriculture Research Service. On that final day, the Agriculture Research Service awarded Carahsoft a contract valued at $446,938.80 for programming services involving AG Data Commons.
Ag Data Commons (ADC) provides access to a wide range of open data pertaining to agricultural research. Essentially, they are centralized repository for data already on the web, as well as for new data being published for the first time. With the help of Carahsoft, ADC hopes to instill "innovative data re-use, integration, and visualization to support bigger, better science and policy."
Obviously, this is not the first contract for Carahsoft Technology. Beginning back in 2004, Carahsoft was formed by industry experts -- taking full advantage of its Schedule 70, and has become the master government aggregator for many of its vendors including Adobe, EMC, VMWare, SAP, Google, and Hewlett-Packard.
