WSI Helps U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with Automating Deployment of a Microsoft .NET Database Application

Using powerful software application deployment tools offered by Microsoft, WSI worked for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help fellow government contractor Rick Norwood deploy a Microsoft .NET application with an Access database. The software deployment included multiple COM as well as .NET references. Specifically, WSI guided Mr. Norwood on how to include the prerequisites such as the latest version of Microsoft's .NET Framework in the distribution package. This streamlined the installation process for the end users by eliminating the need for them to download the prerequires separately. WSI assisted with the setup of automatic, software updates for future application enhancements. WSI reviewed the deployment plans and project settings prior to publishing to the live environment. WSI helped avoid CAS (Code Access Security) and other security concerns during the installation.
WSI also advised on various technologies that were part of the project including Visual Studio, previous versions of .NET, and Microsoft ClickOnce software package application deployment.
WSI assisted with the troubleshooting of deployment on a remote network. WSI helped Mr. Norwood with communications with the network administrator to request the required network permissions. WSI developed testing methods to confirm that deployment files were uploaded to the proper location. The project was funded by the U.S. Army Installation Management Command - IMCOM.
