Zappold Advisors, LLC Gains SBA 8(a) Certification

August 23rd, 2017 - by Zappold Advisors, LLC | Share on:

Zappold Advisors LLC was certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a participant in the 8(a) Business Development Program and is eligible to participate in the program through 2020.

The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program helps small disadvantaged and minority-owned businesses compete for government contracts and provides special access to federal procurement opportunities. The Program is also a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses and offers a broad scope of assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program, named after a section of the Small Business Act of 1953, is charged with helping small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. Entry into the program gives access to the SBA 8(a) Mentor-Protege Program, where large federal contractors are teamed with the SBA 8(a) firm on contracts. In addition, SBA 8(a) firms can compete for portions of federal contracts that are set-aside for SBA 8(a) firms.

Sole Sourcing to Us Through Our SBA 8(a) Certification Sole Source Contract Any federal agency can identify work especially suited for an SBA 8(a) firm and can set-aside the project without advertising in FedBizOpps. This allows the Federal Agency to directly award a professional service contract to Zappold Advisors LLC without lengthy contracting delays.

If this option is chosen, the steps are as follows:

Step 1: The Government program manager develops a statement of work, prepares a government estimate, and obtains the necessary funding.
Step 2: The Government program manager chooses Zappold Advisors LLC to perform the work and submits a procurement request to the agency contracting officer.
Step 3: The agency contracting officer prepares and submits an "Offer Letter" directly to the SBA Washington Metropolitan Area District Office's Offer Letters Team (E-mail: DCOfferLetters@sba.gov).
Step 4: The SBA processes the "Offer Letter" and returns it to the agency contracting officer, usually within 5 business days, who submits the Statement of Work and Request for Proposal or Quotation to Zappold Advisors LLC.
Step 5: Zappold Advisors LLC submits the proposal, which is evaluated and negotiated (if necessary) by the agency.
Step 6: The contract is awarded to Zappold Advisors LLC.
